M6.2 quake hits Kermadec Islands

BEIJING - An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale jolted the Kermadec Islands at 6:10 pm Beijing Time Thursday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
The epicenter, with a depth of 30 km, was initially determined to be at 32.5 degrees south latitude and 179.1 degrees west longitude.
