Vietnam to hold singing contest with China

HANOI - The final round of the 2nd Vietnam-China Friendship Singing Contest will be held in Vietnam's Ha Long City in northern Quang Ninh province on November 12-13, with six contestants from each country, announced organizers on Tuesday.

Organizers, being the Vietnam Television Cables (VTC) and Quang Ninh province's Radio-Television, said that the best six contestants from each country, who had passed the qualifying round in their respective country, will compete in the final round, with each contestant singing two songs, one Vietnamese and one Chinese.

The show will be broadcast live on several local and central television channels.

The Vietnam-China Friendship Singing Contest is an annual event held rotationally by the two countries and has become a cultural event of international significance, which contributes to promoting cooperation and cultural exchange between the two peoples.

The first contest was held in Guangxi, China in 2010.
