Taliban behead 4 people in W Afghanistan

KABUL - Taliban militants on Tuesday beheaded four civilians after their abduction in Farah province, 695 km west of Afghan capital Kabul, police said Wednesday.

"A group of armed Taliban rebels kidnapped four civilians in Balabluk district of Farah province on Tuesday on charges of cooperation with the government and beheaded them," police spokesman in western region Abdul Rauf Ahmadi told Xinhua.

He stated all the four people beheaded by the Taliban were innocent civilians and had no link with the government.

Meantime, police chief of Farah province Syed Mohammad Roshandil in talks with Xinhua said that the Taliban in an attempt to intimidate civilians and win their support execute and behead people.  

Taliban militants fighting Afghan and NATO-led troops have yet to make comment.
