KUALA LUMPUR -- Ee Qing Hai is not called the "bee boy" for nothing. He can attract 80,000 bees and bear them for two hours.

This is known to the Malaysian public when his story was reported by local media The Star on Thursday.

He has been stung more than 20 times, but that has not deterred the 15-year-old boy. In fact, he wants to attract more bees.

The schoolboy said he overcame his fear of the stinging insect after training for four months with worker bees at a bee farm in Bukit Katil, southern state of Malacca.

"Nowadays, I only feel ticklish when the bees swarm all over my body and face," said Ee, who is now a crowd puller at the Pesta Expo 2007 in northern state of Penang.

The SMK St David High School student from Malacca said he only performed during school holidays so it would not clash with his studies.

"I plan to do this as long as I can and if I get a chance, I would like to take part in international bee man shows," he said.

Ee's interest in bees started when he first saw a road show featuring a "bee man" performance in Malaysia in April.

Operator of the bee man show at pesta, Michael Fong, said Ee broke the record during a show last Saturday when more than 80,000 bees covered his body and face.

"He usually only attracts between 20,000 and 50,000 bees," Fong said, adding that the longest Qing Hai had sat during a show was two hours.
