The launching ceremony of the new tourism resort was held during the 2015 Mulan Weichan Forest and Prairie Tourism Culture Festival.

Mulan Weichan used to be a royal hunting ground and summer retreat during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), and now is a natural grassland resort covering an area of 2,324 square kilometers

Many Qing Dynasty cultural relics and historic sites have been discovered in the area.
