The Yanqi Lake scenic site, where the 22nd APEC summit was held, has a bigger vision for its future post-APEC.

Located at the foot of Yanshan Mountains in Beijing’s northern suburb, Yanqi Lake has won attention from the public since the high profile APEC summit. But what will become of the conference venue and its supporting facilities after the event?

The latest news from the Huairou district, in which the Yanqi Lake is situated, indicates that the scenic spot will build itself into a premier international conference venue for conferences of various sizes. For Yanqi, the post-APEC age has dawned.

Aims to be a world-class conference venue

The Yanqi Lake International Convention Center, which covers an area of 8,277 square meters and is the most eye-catching building in the area, will be turned into a first-class comprehensive hi-tech venue for multi-level international conventions and exhibitions. It will also serve as a holiday resort featuring eco-tourism. The convention center will be open to the public in the first half of the year 2015.

Sunrise Kempinski Hotel will be open to public

The Sunrise Kempinski Hotel, which has a total of 595 guestrooms and suites and is the biggest hotel of the Kempinski hotel group in China, will lay its focus on Yanqi Lake’s future potential. Hundreds of its hotel rooms including presidential suites will be open for reservations in the near future.
