Xiamen Yuanboyuan Expo Garden has opened a nearly 300,000-square-metre scenic area for free to public, reports Strait Herald.

Apart from the 100,000-square-metre green field, the scenic area composed of Yuanbo Square, music fountain and ecological garden was open to visitors for free.

Visitors can get free entry to this area, but they will be required to pay fees if they use the recreational facilities including merry-go-round and bumper cars within the area.

Meanwhile, a large number of parking spaces in the scenic area were open for free as well.

The past 26-day lantern show at Yuanboyuan Expo Garden embraced a record 3.18 million visitors. Xiamen Yuanboyuan opened the scenic area for free to attract visitors as it saw a sharp decline in tourist arrivals after the lantern show, according to an insider.

Located in Jimei District, Yuanboyuan Expo Garden is considered as "a garden on the water, and the water in the garden", covering an area of 6.76 square kilometers, which is composed of 9 theme gardens.
