Zhou Peng takes China over Kazakhstan at Asian championship

China played without injured star player Yi Jianlian, and point guard Liu Xiaoyu hurt his neck and back during a layup only 90 seconds into the match.

Zhu Fangyu had a second team-high 15 points when Wang Shipeng dished out seven assists. Jerri Jonson led Kazakhstan with 13 points and six assists.

China is now 1-2 in Group F and will play against India on Tuesday while Kazakhstan will take on South Korea.

Iran led the team with 3-0 after beating India 102-58, which keeps its trend of beating opponents by double-digits.

Hamed Afagn led five Iran players in double figure with 16 points. Samad Nikkhah Bahrami and former NBA center Hamed Haddadi posted 15 and 12 points respectively for Iran. Iran, two-time Asian champion, scored 14 triples, which is in its best performance at the three-point area in the tournament.

Chinese Taipei and Qatar are the only two teams stay unbeaten in Group E. Chinese Taipei continued their winning way following a 94-55 rout of Hong Kong. They converted five triples in the third quarter to secure the victory.

Qatar, who led by only four points by halftime, broke away from a tight game in the third quarter and never looked back to beat reigning runner-up Jordan 75-61.

Qatar will play against host the Philippines, who bounced from Saturday's heartbreaking defeat to Chinese Taipei to thrash Japan 90-71, while Chinese Taipei will takes on Japan and Hong Kong versus Jordan.

In Monday's another match, South Korea beat Bahrain by 96-51.
