Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, has become the first city in western China to adopt tax-refund policies for overseas travelers. Its adoption of the policy, which went into effect on Jan 1, follows Beijing and Shanghai as one of the second batch of cities in China to offer the refunds.
Premier Li Keqiang and South Korean President Park Geun-hye reached a consensus during Li's visit to South Korea in October last year that the two sides will increase cooperation in innovation, intelligent manufacturing and R&D in high-end technology.
As 2014 and 2015 are designated China-Russia Youth Friendly Exchange Years, Chengdu and Volgograd have announced a cultural and educational initiative to promote friendship between young people in both cities.
