Xinjin events celebrate Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival

A rousing and exciting series of activities were held at the China Tianfu Agricultural Expo Park in the Xinjin district of Chengdu – capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province – to celebrate the fifth Chinese Farmers' Harvest Festival, which fell on Sep 23.

As the main venue of this year's festival, China Tianfu Agricultural Expo Park is an agricultural expo and agricultural technology facility that serves the revitalization of Sichuan's rural areas.

Performers from different parts of China presented songs and dances featuring their farming culture. Fitness activities with an agricultural angle – which are very popular in rural areas – were staged during the event.

A series of awards were presented to the country's top 10 farmers, skilled farmers and those who have made great contributions to farming, animal husbandry and fisheries.

In the positive aftermath of the event – after leading farming technologies and a wide variety of agricultural products were showcased – it is expected that the development of the local agricultural industry and the consumption of its products will have a much higher profile, the organizers said.

To further display farming culture and peasant art, a themed exhibition was held to showcase the inheritance of farming civilization in Sichuan. A pavilion was also set up to present agricultural products with strong local characteristics from all over the province – and an art week was staged to showcase the artistic and cultural creations of farmers from different regions and different nationalities of China.

During the festival, Sichuan also carried out a number of volunteer activities to benefit and help farmers, sending out agricultural materials such as seeds, pesticides and fertilizers to farmers and helping them with their farm work.
