Xinwu district in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, has made progress in cultivating local high-tech and innovation-driven companies, citing a list from financial information providers Cls.cn and chinastarmarket.cn.

The list calculated the number of enterprises listed on the Science and Technology Innovation Board ―also known as STAR Market-across Chinese city districts. Xinwu district ranked 10th.

As of 2021, there were seven listed companies from Xinwu on the board, which accounted for 70 percent of Wuxi and 9.9 percent of Jiangsu.

Xinwu district, also known as the Wuxi National Hi-Tech District, was established in 1992. It has played a role in propelling innovation since its establishment, with a host of innovative businesses launched in the district.

Chison Medical Technologies is the first Wuxi-based company listed on the board. Founded in 1996, it has grown to be one of the leading manufacturers for ultrasonic systems. Adhering to independent research and development, it has set up R&D centers in China and the United States.

China Resources Microelectronics is a high-tech enterprise in the district engaged in the investment, development, operation and management of microelectronics. It was listed on the Science and Technology Innovation Board in 2020.

With a total market value of 100.2 billion yuan ($15.9 billion), it is the first listed company in the district and the third one in Wuxi with a market value exceeding 100 billion yuan.

Founded in 2010, Wuxi Autowell Technology is a key player in the photovoltaic and lithium-ion battery industry. On May 21, 2020, Autowell was listed on the STAR Market.

Chipown Micro-electronics is a high-tech company, founded in 2005, engaged in analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit design. In July 2020, the company was listed on the Science and Technology Innovation Board. It was Wuxi's first integrated circuit design enterprise to join the board.

Wuxi Hyatech is a professional manufacturer of aero engines and medical orthopedics, focusing on independent R&D in the field.

Etek Microelectronics is an analog IC design company. It has specialized in the field of power management for nearly 20 years. Its products are mainly used in mobile phones and wearable devices.

Dizal Pharmaceutical focuses on the treatment of major diseases, such as malignant tumors and immune diseases, and has set up a leading technology transformation and R&D platform.

The impressive performance of these companies is linked to the services and guidance of Xinwu district, officials said.

Since the establishment of the Science and Technology Innovation Board, Xinwu district has been improving its investment in high-tech companies and cultivating new paths for their development.

Guided by the national industrial development direction based on the district's foundation, the district is striving to set up a 1-trillion-yuan industrial cluster to cultivate six landmark industries: the internet of things and digital industry, IC, biopharmaceuticals, intelligent equipment, auto parts and new energy.

The district will also give full play to two major service industries-the high-end software and digital industries, and high-end commerce and air services-and the three future industries of artificial intelligence, hydrogen fuel cells and third-generation semiconductors.
