Jianyang improves living standards through livelihood projects

Jianyang city – in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China’s Sichuan province – has reportedly been striving to improve its residents' living standards by carrying out a number of livelihood projects since the start of the year.

Plans are for the city to complete the construction of 10 new public kindergartens this year, offering 2,800 more positions, according to local officials. It is also making efforts to provide more affordable, convenient and inclusive childcare services to locals.

In terms of medical care, Jianyang is comprehensively upgrading the infrastructure of its primary medical institutions.

It is helping to facilitate medical institutions to provide patients with full-process, personalized and intelligent services through the use of the internet.

To meet the diverse and multiple needs of seniors, the city has completed the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) for the development of its elderly care service industry.

Local officials said the city will strive to build a multi-level social security system that is fair, unified, sustainable and covers everybody. It launched a long-term care insurance pilot program this year, to reduce the burden on the families of the disabled and people suffering from dementia.

To enrich the cultural lives of residents, Jianyang is reporting advancing its construction of city-level, street-level and community-level cultural spaces. It also regularly carries out lectures, stages exhibitions and cultural performances and organizes fitness activities for citizens.
