Heqiao village in Jianyang, Sichuan province was named a national beautiful leisure village, on the list of China's Beautiful Leisure Villages in 2021 recently released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The village is located 12 kilometers away from downtown Jianyang and about 80 km from downtown Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province. It covers an area of 8.2 square kilometers and has a population of 3,669 people.
In recent years, Heqiao village has been adhering to the strategy of rural revitalization and is striving to build a demonstration area for modern leisure agriculture and rural tourism.

The village has brought in a number of renowned domestic and foreign companies to develop modern agriculture and cultivate new types of business, such as leisure agriculture, ecological health care, and rural residence.
Relying on its unique natural resources, Heqiao village has developed tourism landscapes featuring lotus ponds, a reservoir and an island. It has built a 19.9-km industrial tourism ring road, 3.3 km of greenways, and 5 km of scenic trails.

To help increase villagers' incomes, Heqiao village established farmers' cooperatives to promote the development of a collective economy. In 2020, the total income of the village's collective economy reached 782,000 yuan ($122,461.2).
Based on its traditional family culture, the village also launched a series of cultural tourism activities revolving around its local culture, leisure agriculture, and rural tourism.
