Xinjin district helps the disabled enjoy public cultural services
The disabled persons' federation of Xinjin district, Chengdu, Sichuan province recently held a series of activities to help financially struggling and severely disabled people enjoy public cultural services.
The activities include reading a book, watching a movie, strolling in a park, visiting an exhibition and participating in a cultural event.
More than 30 disabled people and volunteers participated in the book reading activity. Volunteers from Chengdu Polytechnic and local communities helped the disabled read books such as Chinese Dream and Youth China.

Around 60 disabled people and volunteers participated in the movie-watching activity. Together they watched the movie The Battle at Lake Changjin.
During the park-strolling activity, disabled people watched some singing and dancing performances by a disabled art team from Xinjin district and the cultural publicity teams of local communities. They also did bowling, golf, and pitch-pot with the help of volunteers.
The disabled people also visited an exhibition at the Chengdu Museum called Blooming Flowers Overwhelm Brocade Town—Chengdu History and Culture Exhibition, which taught them about the history and culture of Chengdu.

The cultural event offered various performances, and the disabled persons' federation commended the outstanding volunteers and called upon more people to volunteer.
In addition to the five activities, the disabled persons' federation of Xinjin district also jointly launched an outdoor event with the district's special education center, inviting disabled children and their parents to visit an agricultural expo and innovation center and participate in a series of activities.
The disabled persons' federation of Xinjin district plans to increase interactions with the disabled and encourage more residents to help the disabled, said officials.
