Pidu district presents awards to photo contest winners

In Chengdu, Sichuan province, Pidu district held an award ceremony for the "Most Beautiful Donglin Art Village" photo contest on May 19.

The photo contest, which began soliciting photographic works from the public on March 15, received a total of 1,385 works as of May 6.

The event aimed to display the artistic beauty of Donglin Art Village and other rural areas in Pidu district by focusing on themes such as integrated urban-rural development, Land Art installations, characteristic consumption scenes and rural landscapes.

The organizing committee selected a total of 148 award-winning works, including three first prizes, five second prizes and 10 third prizes. The top submissions were honored at the award ceremony.

Pidu district also launched a tourism activity on the same day, attracting citizens and tourists to experience the district's achievements in building itself into a "Tianfu Tourist County."

The district is currently striving to be listed among the third batch of Tianfu Tourist Counties, a selection process initiated by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism that aims to promote the development of the province's tourism industry.

To achieve this goal, Pidu district made plans to build 100 museums, 100 kilometers of tourist greenways and 100 internet-famous spots. It also plans to create 100 Pidu Gifts and to hold a solicitation activity named "100 Reasons to Fall in Love with Pidu."

Pidu district received nearly 15 million tourists in 2020, with total tourism revenue reaching 10 billion yuan ($1.55 billion).
