The second Tianfu Land Art Season kicked off on March 13 in Chengdu, the capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province. The event will last until May 13.
This year's event is closely related to a range of initiatives, including park city construction, industrial integration development and rural revitalization, and demonstrates the achievements of agriculture, rural areas and farmers in the new era.
The event has one main venue and nine branch venues. The main venue is located in Donglin Art Village in Chengdu's Pidu district, which is a prime example of traditional villages in western Sichuan.
Sixteen works of art based on nature were collected from around the world for the event, including "Golden Birds Singing in Spring." These works will form a permanent open scenic spot in Donglin Art Village.
A number of cultural performances have been staged at the main venue, including a live performance during the opening ceremony, an ultra-high-definition naked-eye 3D show, an exhibition of oil paintings from painter Wan Shanhe's "Song of Spring" collection, the premiere of a film titled "The Flag Flutters" and a Shu embroidery-themed catwalk show.

The naked-eye 3D show allows visitors to get a bird's-eye view of the beautiful scenery in Chengdu and its surrounding areas, including Gongga Mountain, Xiling Snow Mountain, the Leshan Giant Buddha and Mount Emei, Mount Qingcheng and the Dujiangyan irrigation system, Longquan Mountain and the city's greenway system.
The main venue also set up a fair selling cultural and creative products, as well as interactive experience areas involving elements such as Linpan and intangible cultural heritage.
Linpan is a special settlement that consists of a farmhouse, an irrigation system, a wooded area and farmland. It is the basic unit of a village in western Sichuan.
In addition, organizers of the event will hold a series of more than 100 activities under seven themes across Pidu district and launch a number of high-quality tourism routes.
"The event is an important way to accelerate the modernization of agriculture and rural areas and promote the integrated development of agriculture, commerce, culture, tourism and sports. It also showcases the beautiful countryside of Chengdu," said an official at the Chengdu Agricultural and Rural Bureau.
By holding the event, the city will continue to build rural art bases and new scenes for agricultural innovation and agricultural tourism. Starting this year, Chengdu will host the event twice a year, said the official.
