The Jinniu district of Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, began the construction of a hanfu-themed industrial and cultural block at the Hehuachi commercial circle on Aug 28.
Named Chishangjin, the block aims to become the first in China to cover the full industrial chain of the traditional Chinese clothing hanfu, including research and development, design, production, sales and logistics.
With a total area of 5,000 square meters, the block plans to introduce dozens of hanfu brand stores and hanfu cultural experience supporting facilities.

"Chengdu has the largest number of hanfu lovers in the country. However, there is no place for hanfu merchants and hanfu lovers to gather and share an experience," said Shi Qian, deputy secretary general of the Sichuan Traditional Culture Promotion Association, who has also been a hanfu lover for more than ten years.
Shi said the block is of vital importance for the innovation and development of the hanfu industry, adding that it will be a venue for national events related to hanfu.
The block will strive to gather all of the top 10 hanfu brands (in terms of their sales volume) by the end of 2020, and foster the largest hanfu industrial cluster in China by the year 2022, according to officials in Jinniu district.
