Event held in Chengdu to boost blockchain industry

Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, held a special event on Aug 27 to help boost the development of its blockchain industry. Experts from around the country were invited to share their insights, while companies and organizations established cooperation agreements.
The Chengdu-based STCAS, the Center for Cyber Security UESTC, and Hangzhou-based DataQin.com signed an agreement to jointly establish a blockchain finance and security lab.
Zhonganneng Industrial Holding Group (Shenzhen) Co signed an agreement with Chengdu Blockchain Technology Innovation and Industrialization Base, to establish its western R&D center.
The Intellectual Property Publishing House Co signed an agreement with Sichuan Digital Publishing and Media Co to establish a blockchain intellectual property base.
To better serve the development of the blockchain enterprises in Chengdu, the city established a blockchain security engineering technology research center at the event.
The first of its kind in China, the center will not only provide security evaluations for blockchain companies, but also help the local government with safety supervision, according to Yang Xia, head of the research center.
Yang said the center will also actively launch school-enterprise cooperation with the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, and carry out industry-oriented safety education and training programs for local companies.
At the event site, multiple projects by leading blockchain companies demonstrated their application practices in intellectual property protection, information security, financial technology, and industrial ecology construction.
Chengdu, home to the famous giant pandas, has become a hot spot for the development of the blockchain industry in recent years.
The city is home to 266 companies that include blockchain in their business scope, according to the 2019 Chengdu Blockchain Industry Development Report released at the event. Chengdu also has nearly ten scientific research institutions and associations on blockchain.
