Nanxun district in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, has emerged as a magnet for investment in the Yangtze River Delta region, which encompasses the provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Anhui, as well as the Shanghai municipality.

A total of 114 investment projects, each worth over 100 million yuan ($14.5 million), were introduced to Nanxun district in the first half of this year, a yearly uptick of 75.38 percent, official data show. Nearly 70 percent of them were from the YRD, with a combined value of 35.4 billion yuan.

One such example is Haishun, a Shanghai-based company specializing in the production of cold-form and sliding foils. A factory funded by Haishun is currently under construction in the district.

With an investment of 1.5 billion yuan, the factory's first phase, occupying 135 mu (9 hectares), is expected to finish construction by the end of this year.

Huang Qin, deputy general manager of the company, revealed that the company decided to locate in Nanxun due primarily to its location in in the center of the YRD.

The new factory is set to become the most advanced packaging material manufacturing center in China, with an estimated annual output value of more than 1.8 billion yuan, according to Huang. In addition to the convenient location, the district's congenial business climate is also attractive to investors.

This year, a special fund of 10 billion yuan has been set up in Nanxun to bolster the development of emerging sectors. Local authorities have also promised to increase loans by over 12 billion yuan year-on-year to support designated projects.

At the end of June, the district established a business incubator in Shanghai's Songjiang district with the aim of attracting professionals and enterprises involved in high-end electric motor control, information technology, biomedicine, and industrial automation to the district.
