100 new economy products released in Chengdu

A dazzling series of new products from the so-called new economy -- the postindustrial world economy based on internet trading and advanced technology -- including wireless smart theaters, 5G network-connected drones and intelligent inspection robots -- were successfully released on March 31 in Chengdu, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan province, local officials said.
During the product release conference arranged by the local government, 100 new products and services involving new economy applications from 55 local companies were unveiled at one main venue and three sub-venues in the city.
All the venues were broadcast on live video and a total of 5.36 million people watched the conference online, according to the organizers.

At the main venue, entrepreneurs brought 12 innovative products for roadshows -- involving such new economy areas of endeavor as driverless autos, online fitness, online education, drones, smart medical products, as well as internet of things for energy and smart storage.
Experts from around the country reviewed the new products and shared their insights on how to promote the development of the new economy in Chengdu.
"The novel coronavirus epidemic is a global crisis, but also an unexpected opportunity for the development of the new economy," said Chen Xu, chief advisor of MIT Technology Review's Chinese version, adding that he is glad to see Chengdu take the lead in laying out a new blueprint for the development of the new economy.
"Through the conference, we found that many outstanding entrepreneurs have restructured their business model and launched highly competitive products in the new format for after the epidemic," said Softbank China partner Wu Kai, who spoke highly of the newly released products and said believed the conference had major significance.

Nine policies supporting the development of the new economy were also released by the local government at the conference. The policies aim to provide more application scenarios and opportunities to related enterprises.
Local officials said the conference not only demonstrated the achievements of Chengdu's new economy enterprises during the fight against the coronavirus epidemic, but also demonstrated the city's determination to advance urban development with the new economy.
They added that the city will continue to release 100 new products in the new economy field every month -- and provide more affordable application scenarios for companies -- so as to help create a better life for the city's residents.
