The main part of the emblem is based on the first letter of the word "Universiade." It also integrates the creative ideas of the Golden Sun Bird, one of the symbolic elements of Chengdu culture, as well as the phoenix, a characteristic element of Chinese culture.
The Universiade mascot is a giant panda named Rongbao. Carrying a torch in his hand, Rongbao has flame-shaped ears, eyes, and tail. The design of his face is a reference to the the face-changing stunts of Sichuan Opera, a treasured traditional art of Chengdu.
The organizing committee also officially released more than 100 franchised products with Chengdu cultural characteristics. More than 1,000 franchised products are expected to be released for sale in the future.
