The 22nd China Beijing International High-Tech Expo, running from Thursday to Sunday, promotes broader integration of cutting-edge technologies with industries and cross-regional exchanges and cooperation in science and technology, officials said.

"As the country's oldest science and technology exhibition, the annual event is a significant channel for scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation at home and abroad," Lin Bin, deputy director of the organizing committee office of the expo, said at a news conference held on Oct 18, in Beijing.

The expo, also known as CHITEC, is committed to promoting the commercialization of scientific and technological achievements and leading the high-quality development of relevant industries, Lin added.

With a raft of leading Chinese high-tech manufacturing companies taking part, a series of cutting-edge technologies and advanced products are making a presence at the event.

China's leading chip maker Tsinghua Unigroup brings more than 70 key chips to this year's CHITEC. The chips can be used for mobile communication, the internet of things, flash memory, security and wireless connection.

China Electronics Technology Group is displaying its major achievements in artificial intelligence, core chip components, 5G base stations and information networks.

Intelligent information systems for smart transportation, smart government administration, smart agriculture, smart city and smart urban management are being showcased at the 22nd CHITEC by computer maker Tsinghua Tongfang to visitors.

The trend of intelligent development has boosted the growth of new technologies, new industrial forms and new business models, especially the integration of the technology industry with other sectors, which is further fostered by the 22nd CHITEC, organizers said.

"The Ministry of Science and Technology set up a Winter Olympic-themed exhibition for the first time at CHITEC, aiming to promote the integration of science and technology with the 2022 Winter Olympic Games," Lin said.

The technology products for the Winter Games exhibited at the event include an 8K monitor equipped with China-developed technologies, cloud rebroadcasting devices and a simulated ski training system.

The advanced technologies will help improve the professional level of the 2022 Beijing Winter Games' equipment and technological systems, offering reliable support to the event, Lin said.

At the 22nd CHITEC, some emerging industrial models featuring the integration of technology and culture are showcased, including cultural and creative technology products and the digital creative industry.

Bank of China and China Minsheng Bank show their innovative achievements in the integration of technology and finance at the expo.

Using 5G, cloud computing, big data and AI technologies, Bank of China innovates a service called smart finance and offers related financial products.

China Minsheng Bank has independently developed a core financial cloud platform, a big data platform and an AI service system, helping itself enjoy the first-mover advantage in the field of smart finance.

Some education information technologies and equipment, intelligent education systems and technological solutions to the construction of safe campuses are open to visitors at the 22nd CHITEC, demonstrating the application of technologies in education.

Focusing on both domestic and international markets, the 22nd CHITEC sets up a platform for interregional collaborative innovation, and promotes the transnational technology transfer, Lin noted.

A series of promotions and seminars on the science and technology cooperation among Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei are held during this year's CHITEC, not only highlighting the technology industry's role in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei coordinated development, but also promoting further cooperation among the regions.

The promotions and seminars will cover industry cooperation, modern agriculture, technology, retail and the digital creative economy.

As a national science and technology innovation center in China, Beijing has made great strides in cutting-edge technologies and industries, including the application of AI and 5G technologies, intelligent connected new energy vehicles and medical robots, Lin said.

The city is poised to take the lead in boosting the deeper technology cooperation among Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei, she added.

In addition, 12 other provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions are holding an array of promotions to attract investors during the 22nd CHITEC for their technological projects.

The 22nd CHITEC has invited 17 international institutions and associations to discuss hot issues on international technology transfer, helping support transnational technological collaboration.

Eighteen foreign enterprises from Portugal, Spain, Hungary, Italy and Brazil will have face-to-face communications with more than 30 Chinese enterprises on the issues of culture, education, the recycling of water resources, and import and export of food and beverage at CHITEC.

In addition, two international organizations - the United Nations Commission on Science and Technology for Development and the New Development Bank - and more than 20 delegations from 19 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Germany and Canada, have taken part in the expo.

The 22nd CHITEC, consisting of 19 exhibition areas and covering a total of 38,000 square meters, has attracted 1,200 exhibitors from across the world.

The event is hosted by China's Ministry of Science and Technology, the National Intellectual Property Administration, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Beijing government,

Since its debut in 1998, CHITEC has become an iconic professional exhibition to display the latest scientific and technological achievements, introduce frontier innovations, release industrial policies and promote international cooperation, Lin noted.
