2019 CBT 100 Company List released in Beijing

The Warton Economic Institute (WEI) released the 2019 China Business Top 100 (CBT 100) Company List in Shanghai on July 19, with a total of 500 companies making the List.

The annual CBT 100 List has been published by the WEI for 19 consecutive years ever since the turn of the century. Companies’ rankings are determined by their total profits, and the ranking method reflects the essential requirements of any company’s development. Companies that make the list are the most competitive and the most profitable in China.

As shown on the list, with a total profit of 372.41 billion yuan ($52.74 billion), the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) has been ranking in the first place for 10 consecutive years. China Construction Bank, Agricultural Bank of China, Bank of China, and Ping An Insurance Group maintained their previous-year rankings from the second to the fifth, respectively. From the sixth to the tenth on the list were CNPC, China Merchants Bank, Sinopec, Bank of Communications and China State Construction Engineering Corporation. It’s noteworthy that China State Construction Engineering Corporation appeared as top 10 on the list for the first time, a remarkable achievement given that it operates in a highly competitive industry. The threshold of the 2019 CBT 100 Company List was 1.07 billion yuan, representing a year-on-year increase of 7 percent. Huapont Life Sciences ranked 500th.
