Seminar held to promote Shaanxi-UK business cooperation
The China (Shaanxi)–UK Business Cooperation Seminar was held in Xi'an, Shaanxi province on May 12, 2018 as part of the Third Silk Road International Exposition and the Investment and Trade Forum for Cooperation between East and West China.
The UK participated in the expo as the guest country of honor and was given the honor to co-organize the seminar which was attended by more than 50 representatives of the China-Britain Business Council, Association of Business Practitioners, Nottingham Council House, Ernst & Young, Jones Lang LaSalle, and others from UK government departments, business associations and enterprises. Also in attendance were over 100 Chinese representatives from various investment promotion departments, development zones and enterprises in Shaanxi.
The two parties held one-to-one exchanges about working together in finance, infrastructure, medical care, education, and advanced manufacturing, laying a good foundation for further cooperation. The purpose of the event is to promote economic and trade exchanges and cooperation between Shaanxi and the UK, paying particular attention on partnerships in the construction of the Belt and Road and modern industrial fields.
Wei Zengjun, vice governor of Shaanxi; Dame Barbara Woodward DCMG OBE, British Ambassador to China; and Matthew Rous, chief executive of China-Britain Business Council delivered speeches during the seminar.
The seminar was hosted by the government of Shaanxi province and British Embassy in Beijing. The Shaanxi Provincial Department of Commerce, Foreign Affairs Office of Shaanxi Province, and China-Britain Business Council were co-organizers.
