Hanfu lovers promote traditional Chinese culture in Chengdu

A Hanfu culture experience event was staged on Saturday in Kuanzhai Alley, a cultural tourism landmark in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province.

Dozens of Hanfu fans wearing the traditional Chinese costume showcased the beauty of Hanfu and promoted traditional Chinese culture through games, dances and musical instrument performances.

Lingche, president of T. vof, a cosplay society in Chengdu and co-planner of the event, said Hanfu is an important carrier of the long history and culture of the Chinese nation, and by holding the event she would like more people to know about and fall in love with Hanfu.

"Although our society members are familiar with many kinds of costumes in the world, I find that everyone has a special preference for Hanfu," she said.

Qi Hehui, a professor at the School of Literature, Southwest University for Nationalities, said she was very pleased to see that these young people are spontaneously pursuing the memories of traditional Chinese clothing culture.

"Although some of the Hanfu they wear today are not authentic, their pursuit of traditional lifestyles is worth encouraging," she said.

Tang Wei, who is in charge of Kuanzhai Alley, said the event is an attempt of Kuanzhai Alley to promote integration of culture and tourism and an innovation in its tourism formats.

"The event turned out very successfully, and we are considering expanding the scale of the event and holding it regularly in the future," he said.
