Sanxingdui Museum in Guanghan, Sichuan province has announced the implementation of a free admission policy for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan tourists from April 1 to Dec 31.

During this period, tourists from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan can enjoy the preferential policy as long as they have valid identity certificates such as the Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents or the Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents.

"The implementation of the free admission policy shows our gratitude for residents in Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan for their help after the Wenchuan earthquake on May 12, 2008," said Zhu Jiake, deputy director of Sanxingdui Museum.

He said the Macao Foundation assisted the post-quake recovery and reconstruction project of Sanxingdui Museum with a total investment of 120 million yuan, which was of vital importance for the development of museum.

Backed by the policy, Zhu said Sanxingdui Museum also expects to attract more tourists from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, providing them a more thorough and better understanding of China's long history and splendid culture.

He said that the museum received more than 30,000 tourists from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan last year. Through this free admission policy, it is hoped that the number of tourists from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan will increase to 100,000 this year.

To enjoy the preferential policy, visitors from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan can either make an appointment online or go to the special service window for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan tourists at Sanxingdui Museum, Zhu said.
