A joint conference of heads of national autism service institutions was held in Hefei, Anhui province from March 23 to 24.

Xiang Zicheng, vice-chairman of the Executive Council of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, attended the event.

The meeting summarized the work carried out by autism service institutions in 2018 and arranged the work for 2019. The second phase of the autism service institution capacity improvement program was launched at the meeting.

Xiang affirmed the role and achievements of the China Association of Persons with Psychiatric Disability and their Relatives in the improvement of autism work, and expressed gratitude to the heads of national autism service institutions on behalf of the China Disabled Persons' Federation for their active participation in its activities. He pointed out that the joint conference is a very good platform for further development and communication.

Xiang stressed that it is necessary to strengthen the awareness of self-reliance and self-discipline development of autism service organizations. It is necessary to foster and promote a group of high-tech and high-standard management institutions, and standardize and improve organizational management, operational capabilities and overall service levels. Disabled persons’ federations should enhance connection with autism service institutions.

The second phase of the autism service institution capacity improvement plan, initiated by the China Association of Persons with Psychiatric Disability and their Relatives, will be a new starting point for autism service institutions. The institutions should give full play to their advantages, accumulate experience and create new service models and standards to benefit autistic people.
