Xi'an to open 2nd Global Programmers' Festival

Xi'an city in Shaanxi province will hold the 2nd Global Programmers' Festival on October 24-25 with the theme of code drives future in digital world, according to Zhong Hongjiang, member of the standing committee of Xi’an municipal Party committee, at the festival's press conference held in Beijing on Sept 10.

Zhong said that the festival aims to gather global talents and investments to Xi'an to develop the city into a China's even global software city.

Xi'an's total fiscal revenue exceeded 100 billion yuan from January to August this year, for the first time in the same period in history, with a tax revenue increase of 29.6 percent, ranking first among the sub-provincial cities for eight consecutive months.

Zhong explained that the digital economy led by the software industry is an important part of China's economy to achieve high-quality economic development. Therefore, the city aims to create friendly atmosphere for the programmers to develop software industry and digital economy.

The festival will be jointly held by Xi’an government and China Information Technology Industry Federation.

And Gao Sumei, executive secretary general of the federation said that choosing Xi'an to hold the festival is because it's an important city along the Belt and Road Initiative region, and it is expected to enhance the influence of the digital silk road.

Gao added, during the festival, the development index of Belt and Road Initiative countries' industry and information and the blue book of China's software industry since the reform and opening-up will be published, in order to drive the cooperation on industry and information among the nations in Belt and Road Initiative region.
