Jiulongpo to develop rural tourism

Jiulongpo will develop rural tourism that spotlights rural culture and the district's local characteristics and customs according to Zhou Yong, party secretary of Jiulongpo district.

"Rural revitalization is a key strategy of the country, which will give more opportunities to our villages and farmers. Jiulongpo will take efforts to push forward the comprehensive upgrading of agriculture, all around progress in rural areas and all around development of farmers," Zhou said.

Located in the western part of Chongqing, Jiulongpo will embark on a plan to developing rural tourism featuring distinctive industries from popular science experiences to local folklore culture. It will promote the upgrading of traditional rural tourism products such as flower viewing and residential tours.

By 2020, Jiulongpo will build four special tourism towns, two tourism villages, 20 business units and two rural leisure experience bases, as well as develop four rural tourism routes. The rural tourism is expected to receive 15 million visitors yearly and generate 1.5 billion yuan ($219 million) in revenue.

Jiulongpo will focus on the comprehensive management and proper utilization of farmland, building pilot agricultural parks that combine agricultural resources with cultural resources, ecological resources and landscape resources. Additionally, it will push forward the construction of a water wetland park, boosting the formation of the layout of "one valley, two mountains and three areas and four blocks."
