CFLD awarded 'Global Model on Characteristic Town' at GFHS 2018

Langfang Dachang Movie Town, built and operated by China Fortune Land Development Co Ltd (CFLD), was selected as a "Global Model on Characteristic Town" during the 2018 Annual Session of Global Forum on Human Settlements (GFHS 2018) on October 30.

This is the first time for the concept of sustainable operation of CFLD's industry cities has been recognized by mainstream international industry organizations.

The two-day event was jointly hosted by the GFHS and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) in Bangkok, Thailand.

It addressed and tackled issues including strengthening urban innovation, building inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and human settlements and promoting urban inclusion.

Langfang Dachang Movie Town, according to the selection committee, is committed to the realization of a sound ecosystem of the film and television industry and the tourism industry. It has already set aside a number of leading enterprises and has begun to take shape. In space planning, it fully considers the integration of production and city. In the landscape design, it highlights the cultural features and the theme of film and television.

Secretary-General of GFHS Lyu Haifeng noted that the Langfang Dachang Movie Town has a positive contribution to sustainable city development and city in space planning, and created a bright future for the development of film and television tourism industry.

Chen Huaizhou, CEO of CFLD, said that with the core concept of "Every industry city has a characteristic industry", CFLD cooperates with the government to create an innovative industrial town based on an efficient PPP model, and researches the regional industrial foundation by centering on a leading industry.

He added that services including tailor-made industrial development planning, global resource integration, investment management, and intelligent operation will be provided to ensure that "every industrial town is a sustainably operated town".

Langfang Dachang Movie Town is located in the north of Dachang Industry City, eight kilometers away from the new administrative center of Beijing. It insists on the "incubation + industrialization" driving development strategy, with "film +" as its core development direction, which helped promote the integration of culture, science and technology, and finance, and build a complete chain of film and television creative industries and a new ecological circle.

The town has six international top studios, three international leading 4K studios and three landscape workshops. It has signed with more than 100 Chinese and foreign film and television culture creative enterprises, with a contracted investment of more than 16.5 billion yuan ($2.37 billion). At present, the companies that have settled in the town include Jin FX and Base FX, the former produced realistic simulation wolves for the movie Wolf Totem, while the latter produced wonderful post-stage visual effects for Captain America 3.

GFHS, established in 2008 in New York, USA, is a non-governmental and non-profit international organization. Ambassador Anwarul K.Chowdhury, former President of the UN Security Council and UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative, serves as Chairman of GFHS.

GFHS is committed to building sustainable cities and human settlements for all. The forum has been held for 12 times around the world.

During this year's forum, the Bilbao City of Spain (Global Green City Award) and Barueri in Brazil (Global City Innovation Award) also won awards at the Sustainable Cities and Human Settlements Award Ceremony.

More than 500 representatives attended the event, including Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Hongjoo Hahm, Chairman of GFHS, former President of the UN Security Council and UN Under-Secretary-General and High Representative Ambassador Anwarul K. Chowdhury, and former chief of the Sustainable Consumption and Production Branch at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) Arab Hoballah, as well as diplomats, officials from national governments, city mayors and representatives from all walks of life.
