The 6th Jinggangshan Azalea Festival kicked off on April 18 in Jinggangshan city, East China's Jiangxi province. It will close on May 18.

About 50 journalists on the 7th national network media tour to Jiangxi province took part in the festival and enjoyed the picturesque scenery in Dujuan (Azalea) Mountains.

The festival, which has been held annually since 2010, showcases the folk customs and natural scenery of Jinggangshan and it has become a name card event in the city’s spring.

The festival featured eight themed activities, including an azalea exhibition and a mountain bike riding event.

Jinggangshan city is named after the famous Jinggangshan Mountains, which cover 670 square kilometers and stretch over the border of Hunan and Jiangxi provinces. The breathtaking mountain boast 100-odd peaks of unique shape. The Nanping Peak, a sheer rise of thousands of feet, stretch for tens of miles with hard rocks pointing into the sky. The mountains are among "China’s Forty Best Tourist Attractions" and the cradle of the Chinese revolution.
