The environmental impact statement of the Wuhan-Shiyan railway was approved by the Hubei Provincial Environmental Protection Bureau on Dec 9. The railway will avoid damaging the historic buildings of the Wudang Mountains of Shiyan, Hubei province, in the process of construction.

Based on a principle of environmental protection, the subgrade engineering construction includes tunnels and bridges, covering 13.09 kilometers.

Due to the minimum impact on the natural environment, the southern line project, covering only 853 meters in the core scenic area, was determined as part of the construction program.
