The 600-year-old Xuan Wu statue of the Wudang Mountains in Hubei province received a warm welcome from Taiwan during its tour around Tainan on Oct 26, part of Xuan Wu's 21-day Taiwan trip.

Golden lion and dragon dances, the beat of deafening gongs and drums, and glamorous wushu performances kicked off Xuan Wu's tour in Tainan.

The 5-kilometer parade lured some 50,000 Xuan Wu followers standing in the streets for worship. Both sides of the streets were jammed with large crowds, wreaths and incense burners.

After the nine-and-a-half hour tour, Xuan Wu's statue eventually arrived at Tainan's Dashangdi (Great God) Temple, the largest and oldest temple in Taiwan.
