The Wudang Mountains, a well-known tourist attraction in Central China's Hubei province, enjoyed steady tourism development during the National Day holiday (Oct 1-7) and won praise from many media groups.

In addition to its beautiful scenery and profound Taoism culture, Wudang's praise came from its efforts in improving parking management and security checks, promotion of smart tourism, various cultural and wushu (martial arts) performances, and discounted tickets.

Sufficient parking spots played a key role in the development of the tourist attraction. In an era where self-driving tours have become mainstream, Wudang has expanded its parking capability and has improved parking management to meet the increasing demand of self-driving tours.

To make tourism more convenient for visitors, Wudang, along with Taobao.com, launched a "QR code tour" activity during the holiday, which allowed visitors to quickly enter the scenic spot by scanning the QR code at the entrance of Wudang and buying tickets via Taobao Travel (a comprehensive travel service platform), Mobile Taobao (Alibaba's mobile app) or Alipay (an electronic payment tool of Alibaba). It saved time for visitors and helped them avoid long queues at the ticket office. The ticket price was also reduced.

During the seven-day holiday, visitors were treated with various activities, including a Wudang tai chi performance, monkey tricks, an exhibition of Taoist cultural relics, a photography exhibition and a Wudang wushu show.

In addition, Wudang has improved its security facilities, involving detectors for metals, explosives and fluids, to ensure a safe tourism environment.
