The first hand-drawn map of the Wudang Mountains in Shiyan, Hubei province, went on sale officially on Oct 1, 2014. The first edition consists of 50,000 copies. Each is priced at 20 yuan ($3.26), and comes with three free postcards.

The hand-drawn map, painted in a sketch style on craft paper, presents all the charming scenic spots in the Wudang Mountains, including the Golden Summit and Purple Heaven Palace (Zixiao Palace). One side of the map focuses on the location of Wudang's tourist attractions while the other side includes an introduction of scenic spots, as well as local cuisine and driving routes.

The hand-painted map aims to provide tourists with overall information of Wudang, including tourist routes, tourist attraction introduction, Taoism culture, Wudang martial arts, folk customs, local food and accommodation.

The map is an effort by staff of two cultural communication companies from Shiyan and Xiamen, who spent half a year taking photos, drawing pictures and revising the map.

Unlike an ordinary map, the hand-drawn map highlights the artistic and glamorous scenery.
