Beijing tourists feel the pulse of Shiyan

The South-to-North Water Diversion Project will start to divert water to Beijing and Tianjin in August 2014. To help people know more about the source of water, Shiyan city in Hubei province, a tourist-dedicated train was opened from Beijing to Shiyan during the last week of May, Wudangshan.gov.cn.reported.

The tourist-dedicated train from Beijing arrived at the railway station of Shiyan on its maiden journey on the morning of May 27. Tourists from the north climbed Wudang Mountain to taste the water and also enjoyed the charm of the beautiful scenery and profound culture in Shiyan.

 While listening to the melodious music of zithers and flutes, tourists enjoyed an impressive Wudang martial arts performance that coupled hardness with softness, Wudang tea art and calligraphy demonstrations. Some of them made incense offerings at the Golden Summit. All the tourists also received a Wudang souvenir from the Taoist priest there.

Yu Shuhua, vice-general manager of China Railway Travel Service, said that they will reinforce tourism cooperation with Shiyan and make efforts to regularize the tourist-dedicated train from Beijing to Shiyan, introducing local customs of Shiyan to the markets of Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei province.
