Beijing tourists praise beauty of Wudang Mountains

The first tourist train from Beijing to Shiyan, Hubei province, reached its destination at 4:40 am on May 27. Almost 500 Beijing tourists took the trip of two days and one night.

At 6:30 am, the tourists took buses to Wudang Mountain Scenic Area and started their one-day tour after breakfast. They visited Golden Summit Scenic Area, Prince Slope, South Crag and Purple Heaven Palace, watched a Wudang Kungfu performance and experienced some Taoist culture.

The oldest tourist from Beijing was He Changkui, at 83 years old. He thought the trip was very rewarding. He said that although it was his first time here, he already fell in love with the beautiful scenery of Wudang Mountains.

According to the schedule, the tourists will arrive at Danjiangkou, the source of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project and a county-level city under Shiyan. They will have close contact with Shiyan’s boutique travel routes and distinctive culture, which may lead to an upsurge in travelers from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to Shiyan.

At least 15 trains from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region to Shiyan city will be running in 2014, according to the cooperation framework between the Tourism Bureau of Shiyan and China Railway Travel Service.
