A total of 382,300 visitors from three provinces in Northeast China visited Wudang Mountains in Shiyan city, Hubei province, in 2013, generating tourism revenue of about 200 million yuan ($33.06 million), wudangshan.gov.cn reported on Jan 8.

Eight trains connect Shiyan to North China, with one starting in Shiyan and the other seven stopping in the city and, in recent years, an increasing number of visitors from North and East China travelled to Wudang Mountains. In 2010, the number of visitors from North China (including Beijing) reached 180,000, the total number increased to 240,000 in 2011, and the number of visitors reached 320,000 the following year.

During the tourist season, more than 2,000 visitors from the north arrive at Wudang Mountains every day, twice as many as during the off-peak season. The train K1064/3 from Chongqing and Harbin in Heilongjiang province, which started operation in April 2010, has greatly benefited local tourism, as an average of about 300 visitors travel to Wudang Mountains on the train every day.

Shiyan also launched a shuttle bus service from Shiyan railway station and Wudang Mountains railway station to the scenic area, and they depart every 10 minutes.

In addition, a train ticket office has been set up at the entrance of Wudang Mountains.
