Record number of visitors tour Wudang Mountains

A record number of 216,100 visitors toured the Wudang Mountain Scenic Area during this year's National Day holiday which ended on Oct 7, marking a year on year increase of 7.52 percent, and leading to tourism revenue of 141 million yuan ($23.07 million).

The authorities at the Wudang scenic area implemented various initiatives, such as festivals, ahead of the holiday, to promote the area's tourism products during this annual peak tourist season. And the authorities also targeted new markets in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei province and Gansu province.

The scenic area established a sort of tourism command center especially for the holiday, which played a key role in managing traffic congestion and offering information.

And the local authorities also organized events and activities such as special drama performances, interactive games, theme parties and ethnic culture shows.
