Taiwan Taoist delegation visits Wudang Mountains

Managers of Wudang Mountains and a 92-member delegation from Taiwan's Jinmen county discuss cooperation in the field of tourism.

A Taoist delegation of the Xuanwu community from Jinmen county in Taiwan arrived at Wudang Mountains in Shiyan, central China's Hubei province, on Sept 10 for a two-day pilgrimage, wudangshan.gov.cn reported.

Ke Xisheng, deputy director of the Wudang Mountains management committee, received the 92 member delegation which was led by Li Woshi, head of Jinmen county.

Ke said during their first meeting that "people in Taiwan and the Chinese mainland share the same belief in the Emperor Xuanwu and Wudang Mountains, the origin of the Taoist culture, which is the most significant place for the pilgrimage.A large number of tourists from Taiwan come to the Wudang Mountains to worship the Emperor Xuanwu every year.The communication between Taiwan and the Chinese mainland has also become pretty active since the second Cross-Straits Exchange Base was established in the Wudang Mountains.We look forward to further cooperation and communication in the future."

Emperor Xuanwu which Ke mentioned is also known as the Northern Emperor.

Li expressed his admiration for the Wudang Mountains as a religious center, and he added that Jinmen county hopes to maintain a long-term cooperative relationship with the Chinese mainland, especially regarding the development of tourism.
