From Dec 2 to 4, Wudang Mountain Tourism Area held a Wudang photography and calligraphy exhibition in Erfurt, Germany. The exhibition served as a prelude to the Sino-German culture exchange in Hubei province.

Chen Ping, the cultural counselor from the Chinese embassy in Germany; Chiristoph Matschie, minister of education of Thuringia; and Andreas Bausewein, the mayor of Erfurt, attended the opening ceremony.

This year is the 40th anniversary of China-German diplomatic ties. Hubei province organized a delegation to go to Germany and preside over the Hubei Culture Exhibition Week. During the week, the Wudang Mountain Tourism Economic Zone successfully held the 600 Years of Wudang photography and calligraphy exhibition and other relevant cultural exchange activities.

As an important part of this year's activities, the photography and calligraphy exhibition exhibited over 60 works. It showed not only scenic photographs and ancient architecture in Wudang Mountain, but also calligraphy and paintings depicting Wudang culture. The opening ceremony also hosted an improvised calligraphy activity by delegation members and a cucurbit flute and piano concert.

During their time in Germany, the delegation visited the famous historic city of Erfurt, the famous Swan Stone Castle, the world cultural heritage site of Weimar, and Wartburg Castle.

Li Faping, secretary of the Labour Committee of the Wudang Mountain Special Zone and director of the management committee, met and talked with the mayor of Erfurt, Erfurt's minister of tourism, Weimar's minister of tourism, principal of Wartburg and president of the Thuringian Museum Joint Association. Li also expressed friendly cooperation intentions with Weimar and Wartburg.

In 1994, Wudang Mountain was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It has attracted a lot of attention as it is located at the same magic northern latitude as the Egyptian pyramids and Mayan civilization sites.
