The Wudang Mountain special administration district of Hubei province began construction of the Lao Tze museum in the Dajian forest farm beside Taichi Lake on Sept 29.

Lao Tze, a famous philosopher from the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC), was the founder of Taoism. As a Taoist mountain, Wudang Mountain aims to be a worldwide first-class tourist destination combining modern civilization with traditional culture.

The Lao Tze museum is designed by Wu Jianrong, a well-known Chinese sculptor, and has an investment 160 million yuan ($25.5 million). The predicted construction period will last 24 months. A 30-meter high statue of Lao Tze and a viewing deck will be constructed at the museum.
