The world's largest Taoist assembly will be held on Wudang Mountain in October. It is an important celebration activity honoring the 600th anniversary of the construction of the ancient Chinese Taoism building complex on Mount Wudang.

Li Guangfu, the deputy president of the China Taoist Association and the deputy president of the Shiyan Municipal Political Consultative Conference, said that the Wudang Taoist Association intends to hold the "Luotian Dajiao" assembly to celebrate the 600th anniversary from Oct 17 to Oct 25.

"Luotian Dajiao" is a traditional Taoist activity that includes rituals of fasting and offering. "Luotian" means heaven in Taoism. "Jiao" refers to traditional Taoist worship rituals. The activity is the largest of its kind with the deepest meaning and the longest worship period. It seeks to pray for national prosperity and peace.

It is predicted that 24 delegations from famous Taoist Temples all over the country will participate, including the Beijing Baiyun Temple, Qingcheng Mountain in Sichuan province, Maoshan Mountain in Jiangsu province and temples in Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao. More than 600 Taoist priests are invited to attend the assembly.
