Mainland kung fu star Zhao Wenzhuo will show in his new film his skills in Wudang, one of the two major martial arts schools in China besides Shaolin.

Tentatively titled Big Wudang, the film is set in the early 20th century. Zhao will play opposite rising actress Yang Mi, who appears a swordswoman for the first time.

Wudang, including arts such as tai chi and Wudang sword, requires the player to be highly concentrated and is often known as an "internal art".

Zhao, 20, has studied marital arts since he was 8.

The film's locations include the Wudang Mountains in Central China's Hubei province, which is believed where the school originated.

The film will premiere in July.
