On May 9, Wang Guosheng, Hubei's provincial governor, promoted Wudang tourism during his visit to Taiwan and expected the two sides of the Taiwan Strait to enhance exchanges through the tourism industry.

The Hubei Cross-Strait Tourism Industrial Cooperation Promotion Conference was held at the Taipei Yuanshan Hotel on the second day of the 2012 Taiwan-Hubei (Wuhan) Week. Wang said at the conference that Hubei and Taiwan enjoy rich tourism resources and will have many opportunities for cooperation and exchange in the future.

Wang expected both areas to improve a mechanism for tourism associations and companies in order to strengthen ties and cooperate in communications, information exchange, product service and marketing.

The chief of the Hubei provincial tourism bureau released six special tourism lines at the conference, covering tours in Wuhan, Three Gorges, Shennongjia, Enshi, and Mount Wudang.

In 2011, over 100,000 Hubei tourists visited Taiwan, and 240,000 Taiwan tourists travelled in Hubei. To date, Wuhan has direct flights to Taipei, Taizhong, Penghu and Gaoxiong, totaling more than 20 scheduled flights in a week.
