Wudang Mountains to shoot for photo festival

9th China photography festival to be held in Wudang Mountains in May 2012

The 9th China Photography Festival will be held in Wudang Mountains, Hubei province in May. Li Qianguang, secretary-general of the China Photographer's Association, announced details of the upcoming event at the Intercontinental Hotel, Beijing, on the evening of March 3.

The sponsors include: the China federation of literary and art circles, publicity department of the CPC Hubei provincial committee and China Photographers Association, and organized by the CPC Shiyan municipal publicity department and Wudang Mountains special administrative region management committee, and co-sponsored by Hubei Photographers Association and Taichi Lake Group.

Other illustrious members in attendance will be: Zhao Shi, secretary, vice-chairman and secretary of China federation of literary and art circles party group, , Li Qianguang, the member of China federation of literary and art circles party group, and vice-chairman, secretary-general of China Photographers Association party group, Luo Chengyan, director of the China federation of literary and art circles domestic communications, Chen Jianwen, the director of China federation of literary and art circles theory research office, Wang Zhengsheng, deputy secretary and deputy secretary-general of China photographers association party group, Gu Liqun, the member and deputy secretary-general of China photographers association party group, Gao Qin, the member of China photographers association party group, Luo Jianghua, director of the China federation of literary and art circles domestic awards management department, Chen tianhui, CPPCC vice-chairman of Hubei province and secretary of CPC Shiyan municipal party committee, Xie Shuanglin, deputy director of foreign propaganda office of the CPC Hubei provincial committee, Wu Shijie, the member of the CPC Shiyan municipal committee and head of Shiyan municipal publicity department and Li Faping, secretary of Wudang Mountains special administrative region work committee and the management committee director of Wudang Mountains special administrative region, attended the press conference of photography festival, besides, the representative of the photography, the winners of China photography awards and nearly 200 journalist has also attended.

The theme would be, "ecology, harmony, diversity, heritage". A series of photographic activities, such as the Golden Statue forum and a press conference have been scheduled for May 23-26. Other shows will feature national and international photo exhibitions along with a China photography awards ceremony.

For the first time, the organizing committee will introduce a national photography exhibition named, "the source of water—south to north water project national photography exhibition".

The opening ceremony will present the culture of Wudang Mountains and provide special remarks to photographers. Additionally, its awards ceremony will be broadcast on satellite TV. It celebrates 600 years of history this year. It has become the main water source for the middle route of the south-to-north water transfer project.

The development of Chinese photography could promote tourism, economic development and social progress as well.

The China photography festival is the largest of its kind meeting the highest standards and recognized as the most influential in the nation, which will be a great opportunity for Wudang Mountains to promote its tourism development.
