Wudang Mountains tourists increases ten fold in eight years

Wudang Mountains Special Region announced on Jan 19 that the number of domestic and foreign tourists in to the area reached 3.5 million people and its total tourism income reached 1.86 billion yuan in the past year.

The number of tourists to Wudang Mountains increased by 52.2 percent in 2011. The total tourism income increased by 57.6 percent in the past year. Since opening in 2003, the number of tourists and the total income in 2011 increased by 11.7 and 30 times respectively.

Since Wudang Mountains Special Tourism Region was established eight years ago, it has aimed to become a famous, first-class international scenic area. It has explored the tourism market and made full use of its own mountains, rivers, and cultural resources to accelerate Wudang Mountains' tourism development.
