on April 20, Li Faping, director of the Wudang Mountain tourist economic special zone, told China Daily confidently: “2011 is a make-or-break year of making Wudang Moutain a world famous scenic spot and realizing the first great-leap-forward development of the twelfth five-year plan.”

In order to accelerate the eco-tourism area construction and perfect the tourist industry chain, Li said Wudang Moutain deigns to seize the opportunities offered by the Middle Route Project in national South-to-North water diversion project and the western Hubei eco-tourism circle.

Culture is the most competitive power during the process of making a world-class scenic area besides the hardware facilities and service quality.

Wudang martial art, or called Taichi, yields unusually brilliant results in the 2011 spring festival parade of Sydney, Australia. The symphony The Sound of Taihe was held in Grand National Theatre. Tian Xia Wudang, a new TV series, will go on the floor. World Cultural Heritage Discussion Forum, social gathering between Wudang Moutain, Taiji Lake and Ali Moutain,Sun-moon Lake and the second international Wudang photo battle will be held here.

Wudang Moutain has already gained great popularity. What it really needs is some attractions and good reputation.

For the advanced development, the tourist economic special zone has renewed the mechanism for tourism, insisted upon the government-oriented and State-holding principle and incorporated investment companies based on superior resources.

“In 2011, I hope the number of tourists could increase by 30 percent, to 300 million passengers, with a tourism revenue increase of 27.1 percent of the total reaching 1.5 billion yuan.” Li said.
