The tourism bureau of Shanxi province decided to work with China Daily, China's most important English language newspaper to promote Shanxi and its splendor to the world, with a promotion activity, on March 25, in the city of Taiyuan.

Shanxi will use China Daily's various print media, websites and new media resources to select 50 foreigners with writing and photography skills to visit Shanxi and get acquainted with its scenery and stories in the months of May, July and September, and on different travel routes suited to the changing seasons. These include Mount Taihang; Shanxi's three world cultural heritages sites, at Mount Wutai, the Ancient City of Pingyao, and the Yungang Grottoes; and the Yellow River and are expected to result in articles, photos and videos to be published in China Daily, on its website and in its social media, such as weibo, wechat, Facebook and twitter.

The tourism bureau and China Daily signed a strategic cooperation agreement on international communications at a special ceremony to establish a site to increase Shanxi's international popularity and influence.
