Recently, the second unit of the Saudi Arabia Yanbu Phase III 5×660MW Oil-fired Power Plant project was connected to the grid for the first time.
Undertaken by POWERCHINA's subsidiary SEPCOIII Electric Power Construction Corporation, it is the largest of its kind under construction in the world.
The project covers an area of 3.15 square kilometers, including a 5×660MW oil-fired power plant and a supporting seawater desalination plant.

After the project is completed, it will be able to meet the electricity demand of 10 percent of Saudi Arabia's population, and solve the problem of water difficulties in the summer for millions of people in Medina.
The project has also provided a strong impetus for the smooth realization of the Belt and Road Initiative and the Saudi government's "Saudi Vision 2030" development plan.
While fully promoting the construction of the project, SEPCOIII has actively fulfilled its social responsibilities, providing more than 13,000 jobs to workers from more than 10 countries and regions along the Belt and Road.
The company employs a professional third-party environmental audit company to provide technical support for environmental management, making the project meet international standards and Saudi Arabia's legal requirements.
